This policy explains how MB Roofing Specialists collects, uses and protects personal data, and what your rights are. It is written to meet the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are
MB Roofing Specialists is a roofing contractor operating in Maidstone, Kent. For anything to do with your personal data, contact us by email at mbroofingspecialists1@gmail.com or by telephone on 07440354692. We are the data controller for the information described below.
What we collect
- Enquiry details. Your name, telephone number, email address, postcode, the service you are asking about and anything you write in the message box.
- Submission details. The page you sent the form from, the date and time, and your IP address, which we hold for security and to limit spam.
- Cookie choices. The decision you make in the cookie banner, with a timestamp, so we can show that consent was given.
- Job records. If you become a customer, the site address, quotation, correspondence, photographs of the work and payment records.
We do not collect special category data and we do not ask for it. Please do not include health, financial or other sensitive information in the enquiry form.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To respond to your enquiry and quote for work. Lawful basis: steps taken at your request before entering a contract.
- To carry out and invoice work. Lawful basis: performance of a contract.
- To keep records for accounting, insurance and warranty purposes. Lawful basis: legal obligation and legitimate interests.
- To protect the website from spam and abuse. Lawful basis: legitimate interests in keeping the site secure.
- To place analytics or marketing cookies. Lawful basis: your consent, which you give in the cookie banner and can withdraw at any time.
Who we share it with
We share personal data only where it is needed to run the business:
- Our website host and email provider, who process data on our instructions.
- Our customer management system, which receives enquiry details so we can follow them up.
- Our accountant and, where relevant, our insurer.
- Suppliers or subcontractors, where a job requires it, limited to what they need.
We do not sell personal data and we do not pass your details to unrelated third parties for their own marketing. Where a provider stores data outside the UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or an adequacy decision.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to work: up to 24 months, then deleted.
- Customer and job records: 7 years after the last transaction, to meet HMRC and insurance requirements.
- Records relating to structural or guaranteed work: for the length of the guarantee plus 6 years.
- Cookie consent records: 24 months.
Your rights
You have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have data erased where we no longer need it, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable format. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting anything done beforehand.

Security
Enquiries are stored in the website database and in our customer system, both access controlled. The website runs over an encrypted connection. Access to lead data in the website administration area is restricted to administrator accounts.
